Sick of Conformity

When asked about conformity, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Be it either school rules or work policies, social conformity is all around you. I am sick of social conformity; of people trying to tell you the way that you should act, the books that you should / should not read (or music listen to, movies to watch, clothes you should wear, etc.). When ideologists and conformists start telling you what to do and when to do it, your very rights are at an end.

A particular issue that recently happened to me started my whole thought process on this. When a certain teacher (to not mention names) said that I could not read a certain book (It was Hillary Clinton’s Autobiography “Living History”), because Hillary Clinton is an “immoral person,” and that the book mentioned “immoral activities,” I was horrified. The only mention of those “immoral actions” were on two pages mentioning the Monica Lewinsky scandal when Bill Clinton was in office. The items in question were mentioned several times on the news and were only mentioned in Hillary’s Autobiography to explain how the issue had an affect on the Clinton’s life and how the Whitehouse officials handled the scandle.

But this issue on conformity is only a small portion of the current struggles in our society. Many people are still being conformed to certain social, political, religious, and moral issues. Is anyone else seeing where this close-minded ideology is leading not only Americans, but other nationalities to become a personality inept society. One such society in which people have no say in their personality.

One such institution that strikes me as making people conform to one standard is a certain “Christian university” in Greenville, South Carolina. This is one such college that has, time and time again, created students and alumni that are not only personality inept, but also socially inept. By brainwashing students that don’t comply to their standards, this university has created a society all their own in which students are brainwashed into believing that their way is the right and only way. (Quite similar to a book that I once read entitled “1984″ – It’s a great book!).

On the last note, I also find it interesting that such “Christians” and “moral” people are often found entrapped in lies themselves. Most of the philosophers of conformity are hypocrites themselves.

I guess this is enough of my little rant, just needed some time to vent / ponder on the issue.

Why Government Shouldn’t Limit Press

An Essay by Cory Bohon

Question: Should American Press be restricted by Government?

American Press should not be touched by the Government. As soon as the Government starts interfering with the press, is the same time that our first amendment rights are at stake. When the writers of the constitution gave us our first amendment rights, they meant that we could say and print anything we want, within reason.

There are, however, some things that should be monitored by Governmental agencies. Such things include: public television and radio. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) does do content control for these public offerings, such as screening for vulgarity. However, that is where it should end.

Government should not be something that is always breathing down people’s necks. Governmental Agencies such as the FCC, are often times extremely wasteful with both resources and tax payers money!

Content Control, furthermore, should only be enacted on public services of television and radio. If one wanted to see the unedited versions of news broadcasts, they could subscribe via satellite, cable, or podcast to see these versions.

Today, we live in a technologically advanced world, allowing access to vast amounts of resources. these resources, such as the internet, should be able to go on without Government interference. The internet should remain the go-to-place for completely uncensored news. With the internet, you’re able to view and read about both sides of the news.

This nightmare may be closer than one might think. At this present time, AT&T and other Telecommunication’s Companies are lobbying in Congress. What do they want? They want censorship of the internet, where one would have to pay more to access certain websites over others. This is completely unfair. So starts the fight for our First Amendment Rights on the internet.

Which College Major Should You Be?

Which College Major Should You Be?

Your major should be Computer Science. You like nothing more than spending long nights with friends in the computer lab… which is a good thing since that’s exactly how you’ll spend the next couple years.

Update [3rd Week, June 2007]

Today, I launched my newly redesigned home page (http://corybohon.com) – this page serves as a place for links to my other sites, etc. Everyone seems to be up in arms about the latest creation by Apple – the iPhone – which is scheduled for U.S. release on June 29th at 6pm in each local area. As you and I wait in the very long lines for the iPhone; be sure to take your Mactop (Mac Laptop), as I will be releasing the newest (and much anticipated *chuckles*) Dockables 1.0.4. The new version of Dockables will be featuring some new actions and an updated look. As with all of my Applications, it will be available on Friday Morning (12a EST) on COCOAapp.com.

PDF Encrypter 1.0

Today I released PDF Encrypter 1.0. It is a premium app, costing only $5 (USD) to encrypt any PDF from any application that can print. You can download it on my new site – COCOAapp.com

What is PDF Encrypter?
PDF Encrypter is an all new way to create Encrypted PDF documents. You can now use the amazing power of Mac OS X and PDF Encrypter to encrypt your PDF files from any application that allows you to print. No more hassling with Adobe Acrobat and it’s high cost.

How Does It Work?
PDF Encrypter is a PDF Services plug in that appears in any Print Dialog Box under the PDF Drop Down Menu. When you choose to export a PDF using PDF Encrypter, your PDF file will be created and you will be asked for a password to protect it.

What Are the System Requirements?
Note-it Express requires Mac OS X version 10.4 (”Tiger”) or Higher and Automator. PDF Encrypter is a Universal Binary (which means that it runs on both PowerPC and Intel Macs).

How Much Does It Cost?
PDF Encrypter costs $5.00 (US Dollars). You can buy it directly from our website by clicking on the “Purchase Now” button at the top. When you purchase, your download will begin automatically. Purchases are made through PayPal.Is

There a Demo?
Yes, you can download the demo here. Be aware that the demo version does not include encrypting fuctionality. This demo version is only to show the interface and how you interact with the application. You can, however, export a non-encrypted document. Other than the encryption, the demo works just as the licensed version would.
